Saturday, April 10th brings us Short Track racing for all ages! Local “Trail Ninja” Chris Moe has been bringing his game (and his mini excavator!) out to the ranch and building a berm-filled, rollers-riding course.
Visit the Categories & Start Times page for specific category information.
Our grom and middle school racers get their own short track race! Grom boys and girls (age 12 & under) race at 4:30pm and Middle School boys and girls (age 13 & 14) race at 5:15pm. This is our only race for these specific ages during the weekend. We’ll have podiums for our top 3 in each category.
Note: Groms and middle schoolers are automatically entered in their race, and do not need to do a time trial lap as described below for the High School & Open Short Track Race.
This optional race is for those who want a little extra excitement on Saturday! Adults and high schoolers will have the chance to toss their hat into the ring and do a time-trial run on the Short Track course in the afternoon. The fastest 20 racers in each Open Men/Women and High School Boys/Girls categories will be included in the “showdown” short track races that evening. It’s only $20 to join the fun! Click the “Short Track Showdown” add-on box during registration.
Time trials run from 1:00-3:30pm, with qualifiers for the finals will be announced at 4pm. Your registration confirmation will include a link to sign up for a time trial slot. Email us if you need the link re-sent! The showdown finals start at 6pm for High School Girls and Open Women, and 6:45pm for High School Boys and Open Men.
Note: If you’re participating in our Good News MTB Team Competition, the Short Track Showdown is optional and will not count towards team points.
Our XC short track race will follow a traditional format with a 0.9 mile course. We’ve added some fun features to the course like rollers, berms and small jumps that everyone is sure to love!
Pre-Riding: The short track course will be open for pre-riding all day on Friday, April 9th and until 1pm on Saturday, April 10th. If this is your first Good News Race and/or first time at Six Sigma, you must check in to sign waivers before pre-riding.
