MTB Ride Camps for Kids

General & Safety Policies

We’re committed to providing a fun and safe camp experience for your child! These policies apply to all camp staff, participants, and parents. Questions? Email us at community@clippedinforlife.org.

  • Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedure

    Drop-off is at 8:30am daily and we depart for rides promptly at 8:45am. If you are running late and dropping off after 8:45am, please call or text Clipped In for Life at (279) 278-1875. Our staff will direct you to meet the group at the next activity stop.

    Please arrive 10 minutes early on the first day of camp to allow extra time for check-in.

    Please pick up your child promptly at 2:30pm.

    Parents will sign their child in and out each day.

  • What to Wear/Bring

    Please wear or carry the following items on your bike:

    • Summer Ride Camp t-shirt (to be distributed on first day)
    • Mountain bike and helmet
    • Closed-toe/athletic shoes for riding
    • A hydration pack, small backpack, or a bag attached to the bike to carry water, snacks, and sunscreen during rides
    • Full water bottle or hydration pack
    • Sunscreen
    • Any necessary medication (i.e. inhaler or epi pen)
    • Correctly-sized spare tube
      Our coaches will also be equipped with spares & tire levers, but this will ensure the right size tube is available for your child if they get a flat.

    Please pack the following items in a separate backpack, to be transported by our SAG vehicle:

    • Lunch and snacks (no microwaving or refrigeration)
    • Swimsuit & towel
    • Combination bike lock
    • Life vest on Wednesday and Friday

    Please label your child’s items with their first & last name!

  • What's Provided
    • Summer Ride Camp t-shirt (distributed on first day)
    • Age- and ability-appropriate riding routes and destinations with experienced coaches and leaders.
    • Admission to any paid activity or rental, such as the Folsom Aquatics Center pool, kayak & paddleboard rentals, Snooks, or museums.
    • Transportation of lunches & water-based activity supplies to off-site locations.
    • Extra water to refill bottles via SAG vehicle.
  • Water-Based Activities

    Water parks and pools with a lifeguard on duty: Campers must adhere to all facility rules. Camp staff shall supervise campers at all times.

    Open water with no lifeguard: Campers are required to wear a life vest at all times when entering water deeper than 2ft or with a current.

    Campers are required to provide their own life vest when required for activities.

  • Bicycle Security

    When at destinations where activities will take the group away from the bicycle parking area, bicycles shall be locked or a designated coach shall be stay nearby to ensure bicycle security.

    All campers must bring a combination lock to camp in a backpack to be transported by the camp SAG vehicle.

  • SAG (Support And Gear) Transportation

    In the event of injury, mechanical problems, or illness that can not be remedied by the coaching team, a designated staff person shall be on-call to come to the location and transport the camper and/or coordinate with a parent for early pickup.

    A staff person shall be available to carry lunches, life jackets, snacks, water, etc. to designated areas on the planned routes for the day.

  • Heat & Air Quality

    We will not ride when temperatures are above 105 degrees and/or the heat index is in the “Red/Major” risk category. Camp days will be abbreviated or altered to focus on indoor or water based activities in these conditions.

  • Sun Protection

    Campers should arrive with pre-applied sunscreen.

    Coaches will encourage reapplication every 2 hours where possible.

    Coaches/Counselors shall never assist with sunscreen application unless permission has been granted by the parent via a signed permission slip (available on the first day of camp) and another counselor is present.

  • Bathrooms

    Campers shall always be escorted to a bathroom. A counselor shall verify that bathroom is not occupied (if single occupancy) and monitor the door from the outside while camper is inside.

  • Crashes & Inuries

    Our coaches are trained in emergency response procedures, including first aid and CPR. In the event of a medical emergency, we will take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of the camper, including contacting emergency services and notifying parents/guardians.

    Minor crashes: Coaches will have a med pack to deal with minor injuries. If a bike is damaged and cannot be ridden, SAG will be called to pick up the bike and coordinate with parents for early pickup if needed.

    911 emergencies: In the case of a true medical emergency, emergency services may be contacted in addition to notifying parents/guardians. Examples include: compound fractures, head injury and concussion, breathing issues, cardiac arrest, and heat illness.

    Concussions:  California legislature mandates that an athlete who is suspected of sustaining a concussion or head injury will be immediately removed from the activity for the remainder of the day. They will not be permitted to return to programs until they are evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider and receive written clearance to return.  Written clearance must come specifically from a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner and be provided to the Youth Programs Director.

    According to the CDC Heads Up, observable symptoms of a concussion include:

    • Can’t recall events prior to or after a hit or fall.
    • Appears dazed or stunned.
    • Forgets an instruction, is confused
    • Moves clumsily.
    • Answers questions slowly.
    • Loses consciousness (even briefly).
    • Shows mood, behavior, or personality changes.
