MTB Ride Camps for Kids

Camper Expectations

We are responsible for those around us. We ride as a group, with the success of the whole group as our primary focus.

  • ENCOURAGE: When someone struggles, sometimes encouragement is all they need to push through.
  • REMEMBER: Reflect on a past struggle. How did it make you feel? How did you overcome this challenge?
  • PAUSE: If there is a course change, pause or slow down to make sure the riders behind you can see you make any turns.
  • CALL OUT: Let the riders behind you know if you need to stop unexpectedly or see an unexpected obstacle, such as a ditch or a pedestrian.
  • LISTEN: Pay attention to instructions from your coaches or call outs from the other riders.

We are responsible for ourselves. We ride expecting the unexpected and making good choices.

          • CONSIDER: Know your ability and do not take on challenges that are over your head.
          • HYDRATE: Drink often, drink early in your ride, and remind those around you to drink! Dehydration can derail a ride faster than you think! Do not put yourself or others in that situation.
          • FUEL: If you bonk because you don’t eat, the whole group suffers. Carry small snacks and speak up if you need to pause for a bite. Encourage others to snack too.

We will get out of this experience what we put into it. We ride with an open mind and a willingness to explore and learn through our experiences.

              • LEARN: Pay attention to the route, watch how others ride, ask questions, try something new and if you are not sure how, ask for guidance.
              • LOOK: Take the time to see the world around you: animals, flowers, rock features, people, water, boats, insects, etc.
              • SHARE: What you learned, what you saw, how you felt during a ride.
