FAQs

• Who is eligible to apply for camp?

  Anyone is welcome to apply. Because this camp is funded through a state grant designed to expand access to outdoor recreation, priority will be given to those who qualify under the grant guidelines.

  Applications are open now! Qualified applicants will be approved on a first-come, first-serve basis.

• Do I register my child based on their current grade or their grade in the fall?

  Register based on the grade they will enter in the fall.

• When will I found out if my child is accepted?

  Applications are accepted through March 31, 2026. Families will be notified of acceptance after that date.

• My child doesn’t have a bike.

  All campers will be given a bike, helmet, lock, and tools to keep if they complete the camp.

• Can my child bring his/her own bike to camp?

  For safety reasons, we ask that participants use the camp-provided bike. If special accommodations are needed, please email us at community@clippedinforlife.org.

• What if my child doesn't know how to ride a bike?

  We will teach them how to pedal a bike first!

• If I can't transport the bike, can my rider keep their bike at camp?

  Bikes will be stored at camp during your camp week, so there is no need to transport the bike to and from camp. Participants will be able to take their bike home at the end of the week.

• What if I need to switch weeks?

  Switching weeks will be permitted if space allows.

• My child can’t attend every day of the camp.

• What should my child bring to camp?

• Will lunch be provided, and what if my child has food allergies?

  Lunch and snacks are provided! If your child is accepted into the program, there will be an opportunity to include food allergies on the registration form.

• Will any instructors speak Spanish? If so, may I request that my rider be in their group?

• What safety precautions will be taken to ensure my child’s safety?

  Each rider will be provided with a bike in new condition and equipped with a properly fitting helmet. We will perform a thorough rider evaluation at the beginning of the week to ensure that riders are similar skill levels are grouped together.

  Riders will be grouped together for rides based on skill level. Our team will perform a thorough evaluation of skill at the beginning of the week. We will always maintain a 1:5 coach to rider ratio in groups.

  Participants will receive instruction on riding skills and traffic safety during camp week. They do not need to be educated on this ahead of time – we will meet them where they’re at.

  Participants will have access to snacks and water at all times. A SAG (Support-and-Gear) vehicle will always be available to help with mechanical issues and/or transportation back to Mt. Olive Church if needed. On heat alert days, we will engage in alternative activities, indoors if necessary.

• Where will the daily rides and outings take place?

• Are you accepting parent and/or sibling volunteers?

  We are not currently accepting parent and/or sibling volunteers.

About the Program

Summer Ride Camp expands access to cycling for youth who have historically had fewer opportunities to participate in outdoor recreation. Families will be asked to provide basic household information as part of the application process.

This program is supported by the California Natural Resources Agency Youth Community Access Grant Program, which works to improve youth access to natural and cultural resources across California. Funding for the Youth Communities Access Grant Program is provided by the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act (Proposition 64).
