    About the Role
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Clipped In for Life events and programs. As our Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll be the person who finds them, prepares them, appreciates them, and keeps them coming back. This role touches everything from large community events to kids’ programming to our dedicated Core Crew — and the work you do behind the scenes makes the rider experience possible.

    Job Details

As our Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll manage the full volunteer lifecycle across our events and programs — from recruitment to recognition.

    • Recruit event volunteers through email, social media outreach, and partnerships with community groups
    • Manage volunteer communications before and after events, including logistics info, reminders, and follow-up
    • Coordinate volunteer incentives and appreciation to keep our community engaged and coming back
    • On event days, lead volunteer check-in, direct volunteers to their roles, and respond to any on-the-ground needs
    • Coordinate parent volunteers for our 678 program and other kids’ programming
    • Manage our “Core Crew” (our dedicated returning volunteers) including role assignments, communication, and appreciation
    • Maintain our volunteer management system, including hours tracking, signup forms, data exports, and reporting
    • Administer background checks as needed for volunteers working with youth

    What you’ll need:

    • Strong communication skills and a warm, people-first approach
    • Experience with or comfort in managing volunteers, community groups, or event logistics
    • Ability to stay organized and juggle multiple moving pieces across different programs and timelines
    • Comfort working with digital tools for scheduling, communication, and data tracking
    • Availability to be on-site for our 10 signature events each year: the Salmon Falls 50k, Mother Lode Epic, and all eight Sacramento Cyclocross races
    • A passion for cycling and community — and enthusiasm for the mission of Clipped In for Life

Minimum age of 18 years old to apply. Pay for this role starts at $18 per hour with approximately 10 hours per week of flexible, remote volunteer coordination. Set hours include one, 30-minute weekly check-in meeting with our team, and 10 required in-person event days on weekends throughout the year.

To apply, please send resume and cover letter to Jennifer Claassen at jclaassen@clippedinforlife.org.

    Get Rollin’ Learn-to-Ride
These classes teach kids to stride, then ride! These classes are designed for kids with no experience on a bike, balance bike experience, or kids who ride only with training wheels. Kids can learn to stride and then pedal, gain more confidence, learn basic traffic safety skills, and even progress to riding on the dirt! Classes focus on fun learning with skill building and social games on the bike that share the joy of riding with friends.

Sessions are held M-F from 9-11 am, June-July. Coaches are needed at minimum from 8:30 AM-11:30 AM, with a potential for more hours if you have flexibility in your schedule.

Summer Ride Camps (funded by the Youth Communities Access Grant)

Each participant will be given a bicycle, helmet, lock, and repair tools at the beginning of the week. Daily field trips using the adjacent bike trails will allow youth to ride their bikes to cultural and natural resources.
