Faqs

Got a question? You’re not alone. Check out our FAQs for our most commonly sought-after race info. If what you need isn’t here, shoot us an email at community@clippedinforlife.org.

  • I don't see my age class/group. What gives?

This series is optimized for riders to accumulate points for the USA Cycling (USAC) ranking system, which does not take age groups into account (see USAC Rankings FAQ 8 – “Does it matter if I race my age class/group…”).

  • Is a USAC license required to participate in this series?

Yes, a USAC license is required to race this event. Anyone racing in a USAC Cat that includes a level 5 license may purchase a one day license on site. All other categories require an annual USAC license. Registration price includes the USAC insurance fee. Racing age calculated as of 12/31/2024.

  • What's the difference between West Coast CX and Sacramento Cyclocross?

The West Coast CX Points Prestige is a series of five USA Cycling sanctioned races designed to optimize USAC points and ranking opportunities for those that seek them. The series will utilize race courses that are already constructed for the Sacramento Cyclocross Series this fall, but is a completely separate race series. A USAC license is required to participate in the West Coast CX Points Prestige; see above license FAQ for details.

Sacramento Cyclocross is our longstanding grassroots cyclocross race series, featuring eight races from October to December. There is no license required to participate in the Sacramento Cyclocross series. Click here for more information.

  • Can I use Sacramento Cyclocross race credits for the West Coast CX Points Prestige?

No. The West Coast CX Points Prestige is a separate series from the Sacramento Cyclocross Series. Racers interested in participating in the West Coast CX Points Prestige will complete a separate registration process and pay the registration fee. There is no discount offered for racing both series.

  • Tell me about the courses.

This series will features Classic European Cyclocross courses. Most will have a paved start/finish, rolling grass hills, technical climbing and descending, natural run-ups, and sand with double pit zones.

For details on each course, please visit the venue info page on the Sacramento Cyclocross website:
    September 30 – Lakeside Church
    October 14 – Orangevale Park
November 4 – Sunset Whitney Recreation Area
    November 18 – Rusch Park
    November 19 – Lembi Park

  • Are there any bicycle requirements?

For Men and Women individual categories, bike tire width must be 40mm or less and bikes may not have suspension. For all categories, flat bars are allowed without bar ends. No forward facing bars. No spiked or studded tires.

  • How will callups be handled?

Callups will be based on current CrossResults rankings.

  • Is there lodging nearby?

    Yes! Link coming soon.
